Oraon women of the 19th Century

Translation of a Rare German Book into Hindi

I have undertaken the translation of the German book "50 Bilder aus der Gossnerschen Kols-Mission" probably written around 1895 by Mission Inspector H. Kausch and Missionary F. Hahn on the occasion of the 50th Anniversary of the Mission. The book highlights the enormity of the work done by Missionaries in Chutianagpur (Chotanagpur).

I have picked up Part II of the book for translation which presents a vivid picture of the physical environment and social, cultural, economic and political life of the people of that time.

I am in contact with Rev. Manmasih Ekka, Principal of the Gossner Theological College, Ranchi for a possible collaboration for publication of the book.

"Eye Witness Account of the 19th Century Chutianagpur " is very interesting and is beautifully described. The translation work from German to Hindi has become very successful . The events have been described lively through the medium of language. This reading compelled me to reminisce my childhood . The times were different then . The depiction of nature and the lives of people have come out  prominently through these essays . I congratulate the translator Sri Dominic Bara. The reader is certainly going to be deeply inspired by reading the book.
