My visit to far East (!) Germany

During my stay in Berlin in September-October 2004(see report) I visited former East Germany near the border of Poland with Dr. Klaus Roeber and friends.  We attended church services in two villages and had the opportunity to be invited for lunch by one of the families of the village.  It was a pleasant surprise.

Our host was a former blacksmith of the village.  He lives with his wife, son and daughter in law (something unusual in Germany I think).  Though they are renovating their old house I saw well maintained workshop of the blacksmith (this could be a model for Indian village blacksmiths I thought).  I also saw a water hand pump installed just like in India.  They have a courtyard and self sustaining garden with chickens and compost.  The food was excellent.  God bless the family in their endeavour.  I sincerely thank Dr. Roebers for his initiatives and for sending photos.

All the best for your future.
